MID-SUMMER BBQ

It was the second Gardhouse Mid Summer BBQ last night, something we are going to make an annual event of.
18 of us had Apero's, BBQ Pork, Sweet Chilli Chicken, Merguez Sausages, lots of salad, cheese and desserts, along with much wine, whisky, & pastis

A 6-30 pm start, it went on till 1am
Guests were a mixture of English, French, and Russian

John Beasley, Karen, Dolcie, Bruno, Marylene, Mikhail, Natasha, John Roberts, Chrissy, Monique, Yves, Corrine, Vivienne, John, Robert, Mark, and ourselves.

People chat away, but Bruno who was a bit pissed got confused as to who won the war, and salutes the Fuhrer!

People chat away, and Andy thinks he has a chance with Dolcie. Andy 45, Dolcie is 19.
We call it Gary Glitter syndrome over here!

MATIGNON MARKET

Wednesday is market day in Matignon. You can tell it is nearly tourist season as it has doubled in size the past few weeks and takes up the whole main road through the town.

We all went to the Hotel de la Poste for a "formule midi", which was very good.
It is owned by the couple who live opposite us and we were made very welcome.

ANOTHER AFTERNOON'S LAKE FISHING

We let Andrew fish, whilst Al, Marie, Leanne, and Flo enjoyed a picnic by the lake at St Meloir des Bois

There cannot be a more stunning view in the area

And the peace was marvellous

Arthur proved he can swim

And the dogs had a great time.

SEA FISHING

Mikhail had the boat out again on Saturday morning, so the two Andy's and Al went fishing for the day, just off St Cast bay.

A bit overcast in the morning, but a red hot afternoon.

And a tiny bit of luck. Red Gurnard, Pollock, Mackarel, and some sand eels.
Then back to Mikhails for seafood stew.

LAKE FISHING

Andy is a keen lake and river fisherman, so we spent Friday afternoon at Pluduno lake.
He caught a carp early on, but then it went quiet.
Still, it's a great spot to spend a few hours and have a picnic or glass of wine.

Flo poses beutifully for the camera

Pluduno lake. Peace and quiet

VISITORS

Andy, Leanne, & Florence are here for a week before heading off to Disneyland, Paris.
On the first day we went up to one of St Cast's more secluded beaches along with the dogs. The beach was nearly deserted and the weather hot.
Andy & Flo help the dogs get the ball back.

THE FRENCH FA CUP

In early may the French FA Cup final was an all Breton affair for the first time in history. Guingamp beat Rennes 2-1.
We had a phonecall on Sunday morning to say the cup was being displayed in the local bakers, thanks to the local village football captain being related to a former Guingamp player.

There you go..the real French FA Cup in the bakers.

And the cup gets put behind the bar for 10 minutes.

Is Al the first Bournemouth fan ever to lift the French Cup?

Famous names who have lifted the trophy..

Platini, Didier Six, Juninho, Zidane just for starters.

MATIGNON RUGBY CLUB BBQ

Sunday was the BBQ for Matignon Rugby Club, held at the lake in St Potan.
This was supposed to be an end of season do, and had been planned many months in advance.
Unfortunatly the rugby team had a very good season and on the date of the BBQ (when they all expected to be free) they had won through to a cup final against Caen.
So the BBQ went ahead without the team to start with.

The early arrivers assemble for an apero!

Our group. Chrissy, John Roberts, Andy et al

80F..very warm, and the lake looks beautiful

Arthur had a great time..And his fair share of sausages from the BBQ

Entertainment...Er...free tractor rides.
You don't need a Porche, BMW, or Rolls Royce here..A tractor pulls the women.
The Wurzzles would have been made here !

The rugby team arrive back. 23-18 victors and a cup for their troubles.
Cue the party and naked jumping in the lake.
Sorry there are no pictures ladies!

NEW SEASONS FIRST PRODUCE

Raddish are the first to come up this year. They are delicious. very peppery and crisp.
Strawberries are starting to come through too.

THATS DOGS FOR YOU!

A word of advice to all dog owners. Never ever leave a crisp packet loafing. Bella managed to get this stuck on her head for 2 minutes. Never laughed so much!

OUTSIDE PAINTED

What was the old pig sty has now been re-painted.
A pretty good job even tho I say so myself.
The dogs seem to like it, or they are just hanging around for the cherry tomatoes in the baskets to grow!

NEW HARDWEAR !

We have invested in a new petrol mower. Makes it a lot easier than having electric cables everywhere.
