Last weekend was a bank holiday in France (again), and on Sunday the vintage car tour of Brittany reached Matignon. About 100 or so cars and motorcycles passed through the town over the period of an hour or so.
Al and Marie are in Brittany. This blog will be updated regularly so family, friends, and people we dont really like, can follow what we are up too.

BAD DARTS
Saturday 22nd May, the champion darts teams from the regions around France met up in Laval for the Championship of France.
80 teams took part, we were representing our area.
The first game was 9-30 in the morning which we sneaked 4-3, but that was as good as it got.
We qualified out of our group but were beaten 4-1 in the last 32. We were pretty bad on the day which is disappointing after a fantastic league season.
Just how difficult it will be for us in the national leagues next season was obvious.
Laval arena.
Proof I was there.

LEARN FRENCH WITH AL & MARIE.
FINAL DARTS PRACTICE
The final practice before we head off to Laval on Friday afternoon.
Olivier our first reserve played very well, so we have no excuses of a weakened team.
Saturday morning at 9-30am is our first group game, and we heard today that we have been seeded in our group.
80 league winners from around France will be aiming for the first prize of 4,000 euros and a holiday in Morocco.
This is the first time we have played in this competition, last year it was the French Cup that we excelled in.
If you double click the picture you can see last years cups on the wall, and the team picture!
St Potan Champions of France?
Maybe not, but we are going to give it a bloody good go!

DARTS FINALS DAY
Friday 21st May and the darts team are off to Laval to compete in the champions league. Teams that have won their leagues from all over the country will be arriving.
The draw is made at 9am on Saturday morning and we start off in a group of 6 teams, with the top 4 in each group progressing to the knock-out stages.
Robert who has played every league match this season can't make it, so we have drafted in Olivier who is a capable replacement.

VICTORY IN EUROPE CEREMONY
Saturday was the 65th anniversary of the end of the 2nd World War.
We went to the mayor's at 1130 for the the short walk to the church for a minutes silence and a brief speech of thanks to all that gave their lives.
Then back to the Village hall for a drink, where a village veteran aged 94 received a medal from the commune for his service in the resistance.
Apparently he was hiding two British airman in the local bar which was owned from 1938-45 by a chap called Rene and his wife Edith!
OK..I made the last bit up!
