ALL THE FLOWERS ARE OUT

All the window boxes are out and looking smart.
Note the new very expensive parasol in the foreground.
It covers large areas, as demonstrated by Marie!

NEW LOOK BLOG

Hope you like the new look design.
Don't forget you can double click any photo to enlarge it!

BLOODY TYPICAL!

So Mikhail goes out on the boat on Sunday to check the lobster trap.
Al turn's it down because England are playing the Krauts at football.

Mikhail gets lobster for tea..we have a chip butty!
And England play like the bunch of overpaid has tosspots that they are.

FISHING SEASON STARTS

The first sea trip of the season out on Mikhail's boat happened last Friday. The forecast was good but as soon as we got to sea, it was a very misty Cap Frehel where we fished from.
It cleared up lovely in the afternoon, and after 8 hours at sea we all came back pretty sunburnt.

Al fishing from the aft end with his new rod.

The view towards St Jacut in the early afternoon.

Al catches the first fish of the season, a gurnard, or rouget as they are called here.
A few mackerel were caught along with sand eels.
Nothing in the lobster pot tho'

THE 3RD ANNUAL MID SUMMER BBQ.

Was it really or 3rd mid summer BBQ?
Time really does fly.
All the normal suspects were here, including Bruno and Marylene from the bar.

We had Jamaican style Pork Loin, Turkey Tandori, Merguez Sausages along with plenty of Salads, Baguettes, a Cheeseboard and lots of desserts
like Banana & Chocolate Crumble, Apple Flan, Mincemeat Pie, plus a giant Chocolate and Strawberry Doughnut.

All washed down with lashings of wine!

WE HAVE GOT CRABS

Mikhail turned up Sunday evening with 12 spider crabs that he had caught up at Cap Frehel. They were boiled up and were very tasty.

There was even enough for the dogs.
Arthur licked the shell to death.

WORLD CUP V ALGERIA

So after the disappointment of not beating the Yanks, we gave it another go on Friday night.
Another home made 'takeaway" style feast was prepared. This time chilli beef pizza, BBQ ribs, onion rings.
WHY BOTHER!

Total disgrace by the most inept England team I have ever seen.
Luckily we live here and can support the glorious French team on their route to the world cup final..
Well, if they stop striking, and arguing and actually start playing football!
WHAT A BLOODY SHAMBLES!

BBQ SEASON IN FULL SWING

The weather is really good right now, so we went up to Mikhail & Natasha's for a Sunday BBQ. delicious as ever.

WORLD CUP. ENGLAND V USA

England's first game, so we decided to make that traditional English dish of Chicken Vindaloo and home made Naan Breads.
Serving the food piping hot at kick off time.

Bloody hell! Gerrard scores after 4 minutes, Vindaloo everywhere.

Pity England couldn't hold on thanks to "butter fingers" Green, but we are still confident that England will go all the way...to the last 16 and get knocked out on penalties.

FOOTBALL'S COMING HOME

Not to this home tho'

A pub record (yet to be confirmed) of 28 (Mostly local village players and thier WAG's..or cousins as we would probably call them) packed in to the village bar last night to watch the France v Uruguay clash, more in hope than expectation.

Expectation I say, the fact that only one person had a French national shirt on was enough proof to confirm the low confidence in Dominech's side.

And the locals were not let down. WOEFUL!

France just can't get it together as a side at the moment, however I wonder if one win will transform things as they certainly have on paper the talent to get far. I fear that the transformation will not happen tho, and an early exit beckons for Les Blues.

The brief excitement was when Lodeiro was sent off and hopes were briefly raised. All in vain my French friends, and within 5 minutes of the final whistle, the bar had emptied to 4 people.

A few locals want England to do well as the premiership is much watched here, but in all honesty, Spain is the team they would like to win it most.

ALL THE FAMILY ARRIVE

A special week. Al's brother Tony and family arrived on Monday, then Mum and Bob arrived on Wednesday so we could all meet up for the first time in ages.
A meal out, some garden parties and lots of sunshine.

All out for a drink at the port of St Cast

Dinner at the Auberge in St Potan.

RAIN STORM

Brittany had not had any rain for 2 months, but when it came, it came in buckets.
3 thunderstorms converged over St Potan at once and the electrical storm and downpour was spectacular.
The stream burst it's banks but luckily the water never made it much further up that our front gate.

BUSY 2 WEEKS

Last week Marie's Dad, Anne & Liz came out.
The weather was good for the first part of the week but changed rapidly as the rains came.
Pictured is Liz. The watering can proves that things grow if you water them..Mainly outwards!
