THE HALLOWEEN BASH - GHOULIES ARE OUT!

The English and French turned up suitably attired for a Halloween bash at the Cheval Blanc last night, and a good time was had by all.
Live music, food, plenty of drink, gave the whole place a real party atmosphere.
The Cheval Blanc is becoming a community centre for ex-pats and locals alike for language learning, rambling, painting, and a library.
Anyway, here goes the pics from last night with a description.
Don't forget to double click to enlarge the picture.

Left to Right:
Lily, Jo, Marie, Annie, Chrissy, Me, and er..Mikhail.
Everyone made the effort to dress up in Halloween costumes except..er....

..Mikhail, who came as a terrorist.
Not the smartest move in an Irish bar!!!!!

John and Chrissy as Frankenstein and Morticia.

Doug and Jan make an effort.

Jo takes a picture as Daisy nicks her lager!
She show's promise for a 15 year old!

The 2nd pumpkin carving that Marie did.
Marie won the fancy dress and was presented with a bottle of Mumm Champagne.

Marie has carved the pumpkin, and Al is doing a bit of food for 40.
Should be quite a good evening!

A STRANGE PARTY INVITE

Anyone who laughs at this can just bugger off about visiting next summer.
We have a friend who we meet in the bar now and again called Didier.
We don't know him well enough as so far as to invite him for dinner, but we chat quite often.
Anyway, Didier turns up this afternoon with an invitation to a party.
Not a tupperware, Ann Summers, or Avon party.
We have been cordially invited to his place on Tuesday evening for a "Nutrition for Seniors" evening.
Bloody herbal tablets for senior citizens to aid those aching joints or for embarrassing wind problems.

There's a few free drinks in it...So, we are going!

LOTS OF WOOD

We are more prepared this winter with a huge stock of wood to burn.
We had to light the fire last week for the first time this autumn.

Al has chopped stacks of wood over the summer.

And there is still plenty in reserve.

Hopefully the fuel strikes will ease off now and we can get our order of domestic fuel for the central heating.

A SUNDAY STROLL

We took the dogs out on a couple of extra long walks around the village last week.
it's really deep into autumn now as these pictures show.
It's getting cold too!

FIRST HOME DARTS GAME

The darts team have taken to National level very well indeed.
Dol de Bretagne were beaten 13-6 last night in a very impressive performance.
With a squad of 6 this year, we are confident we can make the step up to the semi pro ranks.

NO MORE MOWING

The gard acres has had it's final mow of the season. No more mowing till March.
On the veg patch, sprouts, parsnips, leeks and carrots are booming.
They will be shortly followed by winter lettuce.

DAVID CAMERON

I have seen on the news that David Cameron visited Northwood today to spin the governments defence policy.
Thank the lord Ash Rajyaguru is long gone , or brown tongues would be everywhere.
It's my old job in security at Northwood. I hope you all survived the "Hog Wash", and someone helped George Chaney get up off his knees!

The picture above shows military personnel at Northwood being too scared to speak out at the defence cuts.

My old country is diabolical!

TOUR DE FRANCE 2011

BUGS OF THE NIGHT.

I don't know if it is the warm evenings, but the bugs are out in force at night.
Obviously fields have to be manured this time of year which does not help.
Plenty of hornets are around, especially about 11pm.
It's like the drone of 644 squadron coming over the garden.

BOURNEMOUTH WERE ON TV AGAIN.

Bournemouth were on TV last Saturday against Brighton.
All prepared we were with wine , cheese, and nibbles.
And what a let down. Bournemouth were pathetic., but somehow drew 1-1 with a last minute penalty.
Then the afternoon was spent in warm sunshine with some chablis.

ANOTHER GREAT RECIPE

With the colder weather arriving, we had to bring in all the tomatoes that were still green.
So with a bit of searching on the internet, and a bit of nous from the greatest chef who ever sailed the seven seas, we came up with Curry Ketchup.
It is fabulous.
I really should sell this on Dragons Den, instead of serving it to the dragon here!!!

I'VE GOT MY SPUDS OUT.

Autumn has set in big style, so with the wet weather it was time to get the spuds out of the ground.
Then we realised they had gone mad.
Best part of 35 kilos of perfect potatoes. No holes, bugs, or marks.
They are now stowed in old wax lined dog food bags and should keep us going for 3 months or more.

TOUR DE FRANCE 2011 ?

A very strong rumour locally that the Tour de France is going to play a big part in Brittany next July.
There seems to be a stage planned from Carhaix to Cap Frehel on the 6/7/8 July sort of dates. This might just pass through our village, or if not very very close.

Also the following day will see a stage start from Dinan.
Official announcement is on 19th October

ALL VERY STRANGE

Thanks to new software on our blog, we can track not who, but where in the world people are looking at the blog.

These are the genuine statistics for September 2010 and the totals represent the number of views from each country.

United Kingdom
1,467
United States
166
France
108
Netherlands
32
Russia
32
Germany
19
Moldova
15
Malta
14
Malaysia
13
Ukraine
13

These statistics bother me.
Netherlands can be explained and maybe Germany.
But who the hell is reading the site in Moldova, Malta, Malaysia and Ukraine.
Whoever you are, leave a message and say hello.

The 32 visits from Russia is interesting too.
No matter how much you stalk me, you will never torture the Yorkshire pudding recipe out of me!

HOUSE FOR SALE

The house on the far right in St Cast is available for 1 million euros.
Fabulous views of the sea.
Trouble is, it will be in the sea in a few years as the cliff is eroding fast.

THE ALL NEW BOAT - MARK 3

Tuesday was the first trip out on Mikhail's new boat.
A lovely warm Autumn day and calm seas.
The port of St Cast is still full with boats.

The boat arrives at the pontoon.

In 3 hours fishing, Al caught a cuttlefish, which squirted ink all over the new boat.
Natasha cooked it with an Italian recipe and it was delicious, ink included.

And as usual a few mackerel.
I am pig sick of mackerel this summer so they were boiled up for the dogs.
