NAVY LUNCH

Last Thursday we had our Royal Navy Association lunch at
The Skipper Restaurant near St Malo.

Fantastic views looking over the Rance, and a very
nautical feel to the whole place.
17 attended and the food was good!

SPRING SPRUNG

Sunday 16th Feb.
The first dry day in ages, and sunny with it.
A chance to turn the heating off, open some windows to air the house, and for the spring flowers to show.

Best of all the front door is open and the dogs are not penned in to the house and can lie in the sunshine in the garden...

Well, that's nearly true.

NIGHT OUT

Friday night we went out as a group of 16 for a 3 course meal and a bit of musical entertainment at Le Patrick pub near Dinan.

The food was quite good with Gambas for starters, lamb shank in cider, and cheesecake for dessert.
Hell of a blowy night tho, and the 15 mile trip back home took ages.

DOUBLE DINNER DATES

Have been busy dining around lately!
We love living in France.
11 of us went to Robert's and his Mum's house for a cous cous evening.
Robert likes to make his home made alcohol, and by God it works.

The above picture proves it.
Nighty nighty Mrs Gard!

Then the very next night, and evening of Haggis at ours with the same guests!

DAY AFTER FLOODING

The morning after the flood, we took the dogs out.
All the water had dropped back, but the stream is full.
Another bad night as predicted for this evening, and we may be back to square one.
Tho, everything is off the deck now!

And soft ground means easier digging.
Shep got this deep in 20 seconds.

FLOODING

Thursday evening.
6th Feb 2014.
The electric failed at 2030 hours, so I went out to sort check the fuses, and there it was..
The banks of the stream had burst, the ditches were full, there was a high tide up the coast, so the result was this.

9 inches of water in the big garage, and 1ft in the main garage.
Luckily, the tide stopped just 1 ft from the house before receding.

Today we have dried things out, checked electrical gear that was in the garage..and my telescope.
Somehow, everything still works.
We have bought much indoors, and await tonight's storm.

Dogs have priorities too. Arthur went outside on the forecourt, and rescued his ball and other toys and bought them all indoors.
Who says dogs are stupid?

BURNS NIGHT SUPPER

A Burns Night Supper before heading back to Bournemouth.
9 of us sat down to:
Smoked Haddock and Potato Croute
Haggis Neeps and Tatties
Cock a Leekie Pie
& Tipsy Laird

All washed down with wine and a decent single malt.
Plus the token "See you jimmy hat" That I was forced to wear.
