NEW ROAD

Last week they laid new tarmac on the main road at the end of the lane.
Not such good news in my view.
Now the idiot drivers can break the speed limit by over 80 km/h rather than 40 km/h.
Have already seen some motorcyclists doing 200km/h on the flat.
Could do with a couple of sleeping policemen I think!

PICTURE POSER

Look closely and tell me what you can see?
Just a bush right?

Looking a little closer?

The bees have swarmed. Half the hive has departed to a bush in the garden and will shortly be collected and taken to another hive.

SHEP THE HUNTER

Not sure how Shep managed to capture a young hare as he is not the quickest dog around.
Seems the poor animal was either injured, or totally out of sorts.

A bit too small to eat, so we gave it a halal burial.

BEE ACTIVITY

After robbing the hive for another 2 litres of honey, we thought the bees were going to swarm on Sunday.

Further investigation found that the bees were just a bit hot and had come outside to cool down a bit.
The hive is really packed, and we have put another chamber on.
More honey soon!

BBQ CHEZ WIGNALL

A real fine week of weather was topped off on Saturday with a BBQ at Bill and Sharon's.
Loads to eat, and far too much to drink.

8th May. VE DAY

Today we went up to the village war memorial to commemorate VE day. Something that is not done in Britain for some reason.
It was the first local civic event for new mayor Arnaud and he did a good speech kindly mentioning Britain's role in the 2nd world war.

Afterwards, the usual vin d'honneur in the village hall.

TRIP TO BIRMINGHAM

Have not posted on the blog for a while because I have been back to the annual Navy Chefs and Caterers reunion at the Nautical Club in Birmingham.

Because of logistics, I was in Birmingham a day before everyone else. After a Tuesday night ferry, I stayed in Fareham with Kaz and Gaz. A few beers and a meal out, then up to Brum on the Thursday morning.

Occupied myself quite well until nearly 200 of the Navy's finest branch turned up for the main Friday event.
Loads of old stories, and laughter was washed down with gallons of beer and rum.
A damn fine function.
Roll on next year!
