A QUIET SUNDAY

A rare summer weekend without guests, so a chance to have a ride out on the scooter on a pleasant Sunday afternoon.

The lake at Pluduno.

And down in Plancoet, a Vide Grenier (car boot)

CARTWRIGHT'S ON HOLIDAY

Old shipmate Alan Cartwright was in town on Thursday. Wife Anne, and girls Iona and Daisy are staying at a campsite in St Cast, so we met up for lunch and of course lots of drinks on a sunny afternoon.

A BIT OF HOME BREWING

GOD! I am hacked off with the amount of courgettes and now marrow's coming out of the garden.
But wait. There is hope!
A recipe for Marrow Rum.

Cut the end off a marrow and scoop out all the seeds.

Mix together demerara sugar and raisins with a pinch of ginger.

Fill the cavity with the sugar mixture.

Stick a knitting needle hole in the bottom of the marrow, and wrap a stocking around it.

Tape the top back on and then suspend the marrow above a clean class bowl or jar in a warm place for 3 weeks or so.

Will let you know the results soon!

NEW SCOOTER

Was time to upgrade the scooter, so a good reliable Peugot was the answer.
At least the maintainer is nearby if it goes wrong.
Loving it so far, very nippy, and great on the country lanes.

A WEEK WITH THE SMITH'S

What a great week we had with the Smith's out here.
The weather was fab, so lot's of quality time outside and meals out.

Had one meal down on the port of St cast, along with another in the village, and a day at the market in Matignon.

The ladies took a "selfie"
No drink involved honest!

In the evenings Marie took on Chrissy at scrabble and one 12-0 over the week.
Obviously a very amusing game as you can see!

JERSEY LILLE AT PLEURTUIT

At a stunning location on the River Rance near Pleurtuit sits
the Jersey Lillie Hotel/Bar/Resto

11 of us sat down to Sunday lunch today with the fantastic views right in front of us.

Rather simple food on the menu and maybe a couple of euros on top of being reasonable.

The sun just about came out, and a fine time was had by all.

ST MALO AFTERNOON

Chrissy and Eammon Smith have been staying, so Thursday we went over to St Malo for a buffet Chinese.

After lunch, on a scorching day we went over to the ramparts and walked the entire way around the city.

All these pictures are taken from up on the ramparts, so they are views we have never seen before.

Never knew there were so many little, and large, beaches along with some cracking views.

BASTILLE DAY

For Bastille day celebrations we went to the night festival on the beach at St Cast

The place was packed for a street disco, and loads of stalls selling food and drink.

Fireworks were promised for 11pm.

In true French style things were running late.

Eventually the fireworks started at 11-45.
and to be honest were quite impressive.
