DOG CHARRIOT.

Well it kept me amused for 5 minutes!

DANGEROUS DRIVER.

This woman does not need a hard hat as there is f*** all worth protecting between her ears!

HEALTH AND SAFETY

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..
Be very careful whilst operating heavy machinery.
Do not be like the fool in the top picture.
Make sure you wear a hard hat like the fool in the bottom picture.

BACK GARDEN WORK.

Views of the back garden after 2 days of work. Drainage pipes are in and the wall is about to be built.

BUILDING WORK STARTS

Monday saw the drainage workers arrive. They have had to cut down the laylandii trees right back to access the ditch for the water to go to. Also the back walkway will be covered in stones to make a nicer looking area, along with the new retaining wall, which I am told by the "governor" will look like the hanging gardens of Babylon by next summer.

TERRY NUTKIN

Al is up early to do the dogs on Monday morning and on letting them out, Bella goes straight to a flapping fledgling sparrow on the front lawn. After rescuing the bird from the jaws of death, we have taken care of it with food and warmth. Unfortunatly Marie left the bird in the garden in the hope that it's parents would show up to feed it, only for Kip to give it a mauling too. It's not in good shape, but still alive after 2 days.

LEARN FRENCH WITH AL & MARIE

More essential French.
It's summer and more and more locals are wearing tight fitting shorts. This could come in very handy!
Ily a un bombenment dans votre pantalon. Etes vous cachant un abricot?
=
There is a bulge in your trousers. Are you concealing an apricot?

THIS WEEKS NEWS

Well it's not realy this weeks news, more like next week.
But at last the builders are coming in to do the drainage out the back, and build a retaining wall. They are putting in a "french drain" (Wouldn't be a German drain would it...well it could have been if it wasn't for D-Day) which will take all excess water to the commune drainage ditch outside.
All you people on mains drainage will not understand this, but we are living in 1940 here. (Well, we are not as there are no Germans in the bar flogging fakes of the "fallen madonna with the big boobies") Why do I keep mentioning the war?

LATEST PUPPY PICTURE

They are now walking in harnesses and doing very well. OK, we are only doing 1/2 mile a time but are getting there. When they come back from that short walk, they are so shagged out that we get 2 hours sleep out of them. That is about the only time we can get some work done.

A GREAT WEEKEND

We had a great weekend when the guy's turned up. Much beer, laughter, singing. If this mobile home turns up at your house let them in.

SURPRISE VISITORS.

There we was expecting a quiet weekend when suddenly the entire cast of Auf Wedersein Pet turn up.
Marie was suckered in by thinking it was lost Brits, and almost lost her rag when the driver said our house was a designated motor home site listed in a guide book and asked to use our showers and bog. She couldnt work out what part of this is not a campsite they couldn't understand.
Then from the darkest reaches of the camper just before Marie got too rude the chuckling of Bomber could be heard which kind of gave the game away. For those that dont know Bomber is the large fat Geordie with the hat on.

MORE DINAN PICTURES

A couple of extra pictures from Dinan last week.
The main town and down by the river port. A few good bars and eating places down there.

THIS WEEKS NEWS

Big week for the puppies. Lead training has commenced and they are taking their first steps outside the boundaries of the house. Only 200 yards or so up the lane, but it's all new to them and they were a bit nervous at first.

Things are improving and they seem more eager to get out now.

Al played pool in Lamballe last night. All the other male team members were unavailable so the three were made up of Isobel, Claire and Al.

A great 6-4 win at the Sherlock Holmes Pub was "elementary" (I'll get me coat)

Local builder Yannick is coming round today to give us a quote on fencing the entire back garden. We know he is a good builder because 3 times in the last year he has driven home pissed and knocked down his gatepost. And each time he has done a fine job in rebuilding it.

MORE BATILLE DAY PICS.

After helping to "return and stow all gear" at the lake, most of us came back to the bar where the festivities continued till very late o'clock.
Pictured with Bruno the bar owner, and his eldest son & wife.

BASTILLE DAY

Today is the French national day, but the main fetivities in the Village were held yesterday with a pig roast up at the lake. Got to say it was fntastic. Wine at 4 euros a bottle, two whole pigs were eaten by the 120 that came. Al went up with Liz & Aileen as Marie was on puppy duty.

I don't think I have seen so many drunk people in one place.

We met another English speaking couple from the village. English speaking yes, but they are Russian and damn good people too. By the 5th bottle we were speaking franco/russian/brit. It was utter bollocks!

LIZ & AILEEN AT ST CAST

Just the other side of St Cast is a small maritime preservation area.

Liz and Aileen are pictured by the 250 year old cannon used to repel the British.

Mind you, if these two growlers were stood in the same position 250 years ago, the British wouldn't have bothered trying to take it!!!!

DAY OUT IN DINAN

The girls went out for a day in Dinan. No complaints here, I was able to sit back and watch cricket all day on the TV.

Dinan is about 30 minutes away, a medieval city surrounded by a wall. Plenty of good bars and a must night out!!!!

LIZ AND AILEEN ARRIVE

The sister in law and her daughter arrive at Dinard for a week long stay.

3 women in one house. I can forget the bathroom for a bit then.

IT'S THE HOLIDAY SEASON....

The holiday season has started. Pity about the weather.

They are all ready at St Cast, just the holidaymakers are missing.

PUPPIES IN THE PUB.

Bella and Kip go for their first Kronenbourg 1664. Aparently the legal age for dogs to drink is 11 weeks in France.
Please don't think we are being cruel to the dogs, they all do it over here. Next week they will be old enough to drink pastis, pernod and rough Brittany cider!

LATEST PUPPY PICTURES.

Growing fast. Eating loads. Shi**ing even more.
2nd lot of injections tomorrow, then lead training can begin in earnest.

Martha has her hands full.

DOLCIE'S BIRTHDAY & BBQ

Dolice's 18th birthday party was Saturday 28th June, followed by a BBQ on the Sunday. Pictured are Karen's family and friends and a good day was had by all.

ERQUY & PLENEUF

The search goes on for a decent place to fish..You know, a place where you can catch something edible.
Pleneuf (top picture) looks promising, and Erquy (the fishing port) will probably mean another 4 hours of misery and a sandwhich for tea! Cancel the bloody chips!

IT'S BEEN A WHILE.

Just really haven't had much time to post this past week. Weather has been fantastic, then Paul came out on Thursday and it's been crap ever since.
We went fishing near St Malo and caught one wrasse.
Friday was pool in the bar and with John and Isobel in the team we won 8-2 which was a great result.
More pictures will follow.
