NEW BOAT

Mikhail has a new boat, so Al is hoping to get a bit more fishing in before the weather turns cold.

A party was held on Sunday evening to christen the boat.

A VERY RARE PHOTO.

We thought it was a myth, but the legendary "Dog growing bush of St Potan" has at last been sighted.
Don't forget to double click the picture. This really is quite funny.

NEW OFFICIAL WALK ROUTE OPENS.

The commune of St Potan has opened a new circular walk of 6 1/2 km's starting at the lake.
With the help of local farmers and landowners, chunks of countryside have now opened up.
About 70 turned up for the Sunday morning walk, which started with a free coffee.

We set off on the walk about 1015.

We took the dogs of course but with so many people we kept them on the lead.

Then the mayor and deputy mayor officially opened the route.
This was followed by a couple of free drinks for the walkers.
We went back and did the walk by ourselves yesterday, so we could give the dogs a run.

LUNCH IN ERQUY.

Mum and Bob's last full day in France and we went up to Erquy for a good old "Formule Midi."
4 Courses with wine for 10 euros.
Very nice indeed.

LEARN FRENCH WITH AL AND MARIE.

I was deeply saddened to see that Southampton lost 2-0 last night.
So, for those of you travelling through France in the next few months, if you see somebody wearing a Southampton shirt, please cheer them up by singing this little ditty in French.
Bournemouth sit 4th whilst poor Saints are in the bottom 3.
"Another bottle of vintage wine over here waiter."

IN FRENCH:
Si j'avais les ailes d'un moineau;
Si j'avais le fond d'une corneille;
Je volerais au-dessus de Southampton demain;
Et merde sur ces personnes ci-dessous.

IN ENGLISH:
If I had the wings of a sparrow,
and I had the arse of a crow,
I would fly over Southampton tomorrow,
And shit on those people below.

THE WATERMELONS.

As autumn draws in, it really was time to pick the first watermelon that we have ever grown.
Although not supermarket size, it is delicious.
Too risky to leave it out much longer as the nights are starting to get chilly.

ARTHUR'S HABIT

We definitely have a wolf on our hands.
On the rare occasion the Gendarme's go past with their sirens blazing, Arthur howls like a wolf.
A call from the wild?

MORE HOME MADE PRODUCE.

Thanks to our industrial juicer, we have found a new use for the "Gard Orchard"
It takes about 35 apples to make a litre and a half of apple juice.
30 litres made so far which we have given a few to friends.
It's delicious..And makes you regular!

MATIGNON MARKET DAY

Most the tourists have gone, so Matignon Wednesday market has reduced in size by 3/4.
You can still get the lovely "Saucisse" selection as well as a great choice of local fruit and veg.

IF WE EVER HAD A BUSINESS...

This is how she would advertise in the shop window!

DAYS OUT.

My Mother and Bob are out for the week but not staying at our house.
They are at an apartment right on the beach at St Cast.
The view from their balcony is seen below.

Saturday we had a simple lunch on the port at St Cast and then we did a Sunday Roast at ours.

Tuesday after a bit of a drive around we stopped for a beer at Frehel.

That was followed by lunch at Pleneuf val Andre, right on the beach.
A baked seafood starter, followed by a steak, and a Normandy apple pie for 15 euros.
Marie had a pizza just to be on the safe side.

The beaches at Pleneuf are deserted already, even though the weather is warm.

SUMMER DARTS LEAGUE

St Potan took the summer darts league with a 9-3 win at Jurgon.
No surprise really as in summer the league is very regional and we were playing teams 4-5 divisions below us in the normal season.
The new season starts on the weekend of 1st October. Can't wait to travel France to play.

A GOOD NIGHT AT THE BAR

The village bar is shut for 2 weeks so that hosts Bruno and Marylene can take a well earned break in Bordeaux.
But before they left we were invited to a behind closed doors party with a few of the locals.

13 of us. Daniel, Marylene(1), Monique, Mark, Robert, John Beasley, Mikhail, Natasha, Bruno, Marlene(2), Nico, and us two.

A late night of much food and drink was appreciated by all.
Things like this make you think we are really accepted here and are doing well.

LEARN FRENCH WITH AL AND MARIE.

As usual, more hints to help you get around France should you come for a holiday.

FRENCH: L'homme appelé Nick semble marcher en particulier d'une façon de camp.

ENGLISH: That man called Nick seems to be walking in a particularly camp manner!

EVEN MORE VISITORS

So the big crowd left Sunday lunchtime, just after our next guests turned up.
Paul Payne is over here with his son James, friend Mark, and Nick "The Beefer"
Straight away Nick found drinking with men was too difficult, as the picture below proves.

James and Mark having a beer outside Bruno's bar.

HOUSE RECORD VISITORS

A new house record for accommodating people was reached last weekend, when our guest arrived at 5am on Friday morning.
Bomber, Jock, Tim, June, Sue, Chrissy, & Janina, plus us two, gave a houseful of 9 for a short weekend.
The usual quantities of beer and wine were drunk, and as usual much laughter.

A BBQ as usual.

Jock and Tim discover the delights of "Beer Formidable"
In other words "A litre of that French Piss please barman"

These two should never be sent to sea again...unless it's paddling.

Bomber proving he secretly is "Nosh" and likes girl drinks.
