GOOD NEWS.

The absconding duo have been claimed by their owner.
After sticking posters up in local bars, and even at a French Election polling station (The officer incharge of the election took great glee in sticking the dog picture next to an image of Sarkozy!)
We now have the phone number of the owner should these two run off again.
Shame really, as peace talks between Bella and the female boxer had just started to go well after 2 days of all out war.

THE WANDERERS RETURN

They first came down here and spent two nights at our house before their owner eventually turned up and claimed them.
Well, now they are back and the owner is nowhere to be seen.
The flyers have gone out around the various bazaars to trace the owner, but as yet no luck.
The sad thing is, we can't keep them and they will have to go to the dog pound soon, and in France they with put the dogs down if they are not claimed within 10 days!

BELLA'S BIRTHDAY

Bella's 4th birthday on Thursday and as usual the dogs tea was jazzed up a bit.
You know, Yorkshire pudding, Sirloin steak cooked rare.
The usual stuff our spoilt dogs get on birthdays.

RNA APRIL LUNCHEON

We attended the April lunch at Le Longueville Brasserie in Dinan.
27 attended but it has to be said that the main course was not to great and we came away disappointed.
A shame really, as we have been here many times and always had a fine meal.
Perhaps it was an ex navy chef on duty!

THE SCOOTER

The scooter has now clocked up 3000 kilometers since we got it.
Which beggars the question..Why did I not take the brakes off it?
The Missus would be just north of Istanbul now.
And if you don't believe me, go to Google maps and type in the route from St Potan to Istanbul.

NEVER MIND

Sadly it wasn't to be.
Pluzunet beat us 13-6 yesterday and to be honest, they thoroughly deserve their promotion to the Elite League.
They have beaten us twice this season, so no complaints.
We finish 3rd, which is still the highest St Potan has ever finished.
I hope they pay the prize money quick, because my bar bill from yesterday needs servicing.

MUM AND BOB VISIT.

Al's Mum and Bob have been out, staying nearby during the week.
Have had some smashing meals out in the village, Dol, and Pen Guen beach in St Cast.
Picture here is taken down at the port of St Cast. Just about warm enough to sit outside and have a glass of muscadet!

NEW LOOK.

I've given the blog a new look.
All comment are gratefully received.

AS LONG AS THEY ARE FAVOURABLE.

DARTS UPDATE

So it's all down to this coming Saturday.
We sit 2nd and Pluzunet are 3rd.
A win and we will be playing "Elite League" darts next season.
The football equivalent I suppose is The Championship.
We could only get one more promotion after that to be in "Super Elite" or the Premiership of darts.

No matter what happens we can't finish lower than 3rd, which is still a fantastic achievement from the team.
Make no mistake, they beat us at our place 12-7, so it just proves how tough this is going to be.

Our league position also means we have qualified for finals day in Lanester, close to L'Orient from 17th - 20th May, playing at the fantastic arena below.

SPRING GROWTH.

At last we have a bit of rain. It was getting to the stage where we were close to watering the garden in early April. And that is just madness!
Firstly I have to post this picture of a "planting box".
Made by "her indoors" from the remnants of an old garden shed.
The sort of stuff that B&Q are knocking out for 29-99, or 27 quid for pensioners on a Thursday as they get 10% off.
Now sitting proudly in the box is our cranberry bush.
Real homemade cranberry sauce next Xmas.

Some flowers in a pot.

Some flowers out front.

I prefer Flowers IPA by the pint, but you can't get that in France.

HELLO POOR PEOPLE

Right then you poor people!
How was your Easter lunch?
Turkey? Pork with crackling?
Sounds very nice.
But not as good as a dozen fresh oysters for 3 quid.
Served with lemon, pepper, and tabasco.

MOUSE SEASON.

What with the warm weather, mice are not so deep down in the ground now, so Arthur's hunting season is in full swing.
Holes up to 2 feet deep are regularly dug up in the local fields.

A FEW PHOTOS FROM ST NAZAIRE

At the memorial on St Nazaire seafront.

La Baule War Cemetery.

The old WW2 Submarine pens at St Nazaire docks.

Bill Wignall. Down by the submarine pens enjoying an aperitif.
And me enjoying the first of many aperitifs.
