RNA LUNCH

Once again I organised the RNA France Nord monthly lunch.
Not too much of a hassle as it was held in St Potan at the Auberge du Manoir.
27 members and guests had a great lunch with wine for 20 euros.
Starter was:
Smoked ham and Poached Egg Salad
or
Nage du Mer (Seafood cocktail soup)

Faux Fillet Steak
or Baked Buttered Cod.

Apple Crumble with Raspberry Ice Cream
or
Triple Chocolate mousse.

The food was outstanding and the atmosphere vibrant.
A real good function.

RAIN AND MORE RAIN - THEN A BREAK

We have had some serious rainfall at the start of this year. Everything is sodden!
Anyway, Sunday it cleared long enough for us to give the dogs a decent 5 mile walk across the local countryside.

A real "Welly Boot" job.
The dogs got caked in mud, Arthur rolled in a huge pile of pig shit...SO..

Down to the lake we went, and Arthur is a born swimmer, which saved us bathing him when he got home.
Bella and Shep are the only Collies I have ever known that don't swim!

Anyway, as a big thanks for taking them on this big walk, when we went out for a beer in the evening, we came back to "BIN RAIDERS"
Don't you just love Mutts???

SAD START TO 2014

Not the best start to the New Year with neighbours dying.
Serge over the road had been ill for some time. Just 63.
He and his wife ran the Hotel de la Poste in Matignon for a while, and both have been very kind to us since we moved here.

Will be sadly missed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

To all our family and friends that read this blog, and for those that find it by mistake, we wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR from our little bit of France.

29th DECEMBER

Marie's birthday was on a Sunday.
Not a lot to do round these parts on a wet Sunday evening.
So as usual we went up to the village bar, bought a few pizzas from the mobile pizza wagon, and had a bit of a party.
Former resident John Beasley returned for the night.
He hadn't been back since the great darts triumph of 2012.

It's Marie's 50th next year and we will be away somewhere for a New year break.

PRE NEW YEAR

The Saturday before New Year we were invited to Joanne & Dave's 70's night near Crehen.

Ebay was the source for the cheap garments as we thought we better make the effort And just as well as lots of people did.

There was a good mixture of English and French guests who enjoyed karaoke, and a disco, along with much food and booze.
A great evening.
