CULINARY BRILLIANCE

Not only up early to go for a walk, then the greatest chef that ever sailed the oceans produces pitta breads that would shame a Greek temple.

AN EARLY MORNING START

Rarely, and I mean very rarely, we get up at daybreak and take the dogs for an early morning walk.

This morning we decided to do just that and pick up some really fresh bread and croissants from the village bakery.

Here is the proof!

Less than 6 weeks to go before reaching 50, as you can see still gorgeous, even despite a late night finish at darts the night before.

As usual, no matter what time of day, the dogs dig!

BIRTHDAY SEASON

A busy few days for birthdays.

Natasha was the 12th, Mikhail the 14th, and John Roberts is the 15th.

We arranged to go to a new Chinese Restaurant near St Malo, but sadly Mikhail and Natasha couldn't make it due to illness.

Still, John and Chrissy's son Scott, and girlfriend Emma came over and we went for lunch, which was excellent for 11 euros.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture in the restaurant, so had to make do with this one taken in Cora Hypermarket in St Malo.

For family and friends who are thinking of visiting this year, below are a list of key party dates in the village, which I can promise you are good outside functions that go on long in to the night.

Book early now!

Sat/Sun 2/3 July.

The local Hunt and Dog show.

Excellent afternoons with Turkey done on the spit as the main meal and lots of Country entertainment.

Bar opens 10am!

Sat 9th July.

The Big Pig Roast.

This is to celebrate Bastille Day.

Slightly early but this is a terrific day.

Lots to eat and drink by a beautiful setting at the local lake.

Bar opens 12 noon.

Sat 6th August

Moules Frittes night.

A kilo of Mussels for all, (or a mixed grill for those who prefer)

with loads of Frittes.

Followed by much drinking and dancing.

This is St Potan's Summer Ball.

Bar opens 7pm..and shuts close to sunrise.

If anyone can make it, it would be fantastic to see you!

DARTS LATEST

After the mid season slump in which we lost 3 on the trot, wins against Dol and Languenon have put us back in the top 4.

Well in with a chance of picking up some serious money this season.

FRENCH CUISINE.

A special French cookery lesson for you all.

Whilst in the supermarket this week, we came across an offer too good to be true.

Half price Gesiers.

Let me introduce you to this French delicacy which is often found in restaurants served with a poached egg and a bed of lettuce.

Gesiers (or Gizzards) is a muscle that forms part of the stomach.

These tasty little morsels were Duck Gesiers.

Sauted with a little butter they were absolutely delicious and taste like kidney.

I know they were delicious because the dogs ate every last one of them up!
