THE FIRST LAWN CUT OF THE YEAR.

The temperatures reached 70F today (the proof is on the weather station below)

So, after much nagging, it was time to give the mansion grounds it's first haircut of the year.

3 hours later and the job was done.

Nagging over for a few weeks.

The growing area is almost ready. Just a few leeks to pull up.

We have extended it my another 2 meters this year as new crops like butternut squash are being grown.

LOVELY EGGS.

We pick up our fresh free range eggs every Monday at our French speaking lesson is Plancoet.

A euro for 1/2 dozen.

This egg quite clearly has a map of the world etched in to it's shell.

HUNTSMAN'S DINNER

Friday night was the annual dinner put on by the local hunt.

Soup, Wild Boar pate, Venison in red Wine, Cheeseboard, and Creme Brulee, with all the red wine you could drink for 15 euros.

Despite 120 putting their names down to go, only 65 turned up.

Marie didn't go because she only eats Chicken McNuggets, and doesn't like red wine.

VERY SPRING LIKE.

Everything is looking a lot greener now.

It's warmed up quite nicely during the days, although the nights are pretty cold still.

Doesn't matter what time of year the dogs still enjoy the long walks.

Arthur flushed out a roe deer from the woods, and Bella chased it for ages before realising the deer was too fast.

End of the chase and knackered.

50 - THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS

BRITTANY REAL ALE

There is very little Al misses from the UK, but a decent real ale is probably top of the small list.

So salvation came last night at the Cheval Blanc in Plancoet, when it was discovered landlord Michael had got a selection of 6 ales in.

All were excellent and made a real change from drinking wine.

Al refuses to drink lager point blank as it is for girls.

All are brewed at the micro brewery in Carnoet by an English couple who run a bar and gite business as well.

Al managed to try 5 out of the 6 beers. One was out of stock.

And at 3 euros a bottle, not too steep.
