RESCUE DOG ARRIVES

A bit of an uneasy start as "Shep" (Current name) has had a bit of a dust up with Arthur, but that's because there was food around.

But now after 3 hours, all dogs are now settled and sleeping, all be it with one eye open.

The dog rescue centre advertised a 5 year old border collie who needed a home.

Well, soft as we are...he arrives Saturday.

IMPROVING WEATHER

It has certainly warmed up this past week in St Potan, but the wind is still making the temperature seem cooler.

The dogs walking has been shortened a bit because of the shit the locals put in the field, but Bella and Arthur still have plenty of space to play.

We don't take the ball anymore on the walk for Bella to play with. That makes her more inquisitive, so now digging and getting covered in dirt is a favourite hobby.

There is always the toys in the garden after the walk.

I can't think of a better place to walk dogs.

MASTERCHEF

I see the Masterchef Final was on TV last night.

hey really haven't got a clue have they.

Tonight in the Gard Manoir I am cooking braised sheeps hearts with a Julienne of carrot and served with al dente pasta au beurre.

That's not for us, but for the dogs, because 2 sheeps hearts were just a quid in the supermarket.

A little tip for you guy's out there...

Make the Missus think she is on masterchef by taking one mouthful of the dinner she has cooked, then tell her what is wrong with it!

PLANTING OUT AND BEES.

Planting out has taken place slightly later this year, owing to a cold early April. We hope the last frost has gone, but the brittany weather has a habit of bighting you on the arse this time of year.

One minute relaxing with a glass of vino in the garden, the next, log fire blazing and dead plants.

The Wignall's have kindly lent us a bee hive, so we are hoping to catch a swarm and have the first Gard House Honey.

As we do every year, the growing patch has been extended, and this year we are hoping for good crops of Sweetcorn, Potatoes, Courgettes, Onions, Beetroot, Parsnips, Spring Onions, Spinach, Carrots, Celery, Leeks, and many herbs to name a few.

On the otherside of the garden we now have more fruit plants. Raspberries & Gooseberries are having their first year, and hopefully the pear trees will produce this year.

Along with bountiful apples and plums, we are hoping for a good year. 

WE LIKE CHICKENS

We are really enjoying looking after our friends chickens. Regular 3 eggs a day, and apart from being "eggbound", it's great fun.

Marie knocked up an extra large chicken run inside 2 days, so after these birds are returned to their owners, we are going to get our own little brood and continue the fun.

The weather has picked up too. Nice and warm but still a bit windy.

Labour day tomorrow and hence a bank holiday, so we are going down to the port in St Cast for a spot of lunch.
