BIRTHDAY DRINKS

Tuesday we got a phonecall from Robert, who used to play in the darts team, to come up and have a few drinks for his birthday in the local.
As usual it wasn't just one or two.
Pictured left to right, Bruno, Myself, Robert, Marie, Nico (the local restaurant owner, and 2nd best chef in the village I may add), Marylene, and Mikhail.

FIRST SNOW

This morning saw the first snow of the winter, a mere 2cm.

Dogs still have to be walked and it's always good fun fur them.
They seem to gain a few extra yards of pace when the snow settles, but then so would you if you went out in bare feet!

RNA LUNCH

It was my duty again to organise the France Nord Royal Navy Association January lunch.
39 attended at the Auberge du Manoir in the village and a fine event it was too!

I AM HENRY KISSINGER

After 9 days, peace has broken out at Chateau Gard.

Negotiations have been very difficult but after a bit of give and take on both sides a peace treaty has been signed with the cat agreeing not to hiss at the dogs when they approach, and the dogs in return have agreed not to bark at the cat when it is playing.

As you can see by the pictures, the ceasefire is holding.

Next week I shall be holding peace talks with the Jews and Arabs.

KITTEN UPDATE

Gaining strength by the hour, she now cofidently runs around the garden and kitchen, although we are still keeping the dogs at a safe distance.

Already jumping great distances and has had my computer speakers down, and the phone!
Looking to find a home for her with friends not too far away.

She has a temporary name of Inka and has become very friendly.

ANIMAL RESCUE (AGAIN)

It was a fairly quiet afternoon yesterday. Marie had gone to the shops and I was doing the usual nothing of importance, when all of a sudden "dog explosion" in the garden.
Called the dogs in, went out to investigate, and there on the garage roof was this black (can I use that word?) kitten.

Got the ladder and the friendly girl was quite willing for me to pick  her up.
Painfully thin, we fed her sardines and some dry cat food. She took a nap in the old dog carrier we had, and now after trying to release her, all she wants to do is hang around the garden and wind the dogs up!

We are going to take a picture and put it in the marie's office, but nobody has been looking locally for a kitten.
